A Complicated Kindness is a wry, funny book about a young woman trapped in a very strict Mennonite town in southern Canada, trying to figure out how to avoid spending the rest of her life at the town's chicken slaughterhouse, and trying to find out what actually happened to her disappeared mother and sister.
