Field Notes Book Group

Saturday, January 12, 2019 - 11:00am

Join the Field Notes Book Group on Saturday, January 12, from 11 to 12:30 at The Field Library Gallery for coffee, snacks and a lively discussion of this month's book, Circe by Madeline Miller.  Copies of the book will be available at the Circulation Desk.

Circe, widely listed as one of the best books of 2018, retells Greek mythology from the point of view of the supposedly "evil" sorceress, Circe, from The Odyssey. Not only do we get to meet Odysseus and his crew and see them in a new light, but we also get Circe's perspective on other famous mythological characters, including Daedalus, Icarus, Medea and the Minotaur, and on the nature of human beings and gods.  You don't need to be familiar with Greek myths to appreciate this book, but if you are familiar, you'll enjoy it all the more.

Join us for a lively discussion of this briliant revision of the famous Greek myths, along with our usual coffee and snacks in the Field Library Gallery.
