Join us for a rousing discussion of Jeannette Walls' bestselling novel, Half Broke Horses, on September 16, 2017, from 11 to 12:30, in the Gallery at The Field Library.  We will provide coffee and snacks.

Half Broke Horses is Walls' rendition of the life of her maternal grandmother, Lily Casey Smith, and what a life Lily led!  Raised on a hardscrabble farm in Texas, she learned to break horses when she was six, taught in frontier town schools before she'd even finished high school herself, got married twice, raised a family (including Walls' feckless mother, Rosemary, whom readers will remember from Glass Castles), learned to drive and to fly airplanes during and just after the Great Depression, and never let anything stand between her and what she wanted to do.
