There are layers of history to WE, layers of characters and story line, layers of meaning, layers of dirt. All this adds complexity and interest and substance, but to some it becomes a thicket of a story that needs its road map cast of characters. Its virtue is in the journey back and forth in time, in the exploration of interconnectedness. A linear tale can be a boring tale devoid of the beauty of chance, random coincidence, and the element of surprise. Which I still want as a reader.
