Field of Mystery Book Group

The Field of Mystery Book Group will be meeting on July 10, 2021, IN PERSON, at the Field Library from 11 to 12:30 to discuss our next book, The Late Show, by Michael Connelly. Copies will be available at the Circulation Desk.
Renee Ballard, the protagonist of The Late Show, used to be a detective in the LAPD, until she brought a sexual harassment complaint against her superior. She's now being punished by being exiled to the overnight shift, where all the cases get sent on to the people working the day shift and no one working the night shift gets to see a case through to the conclusion. Renee isn't the kind of person to put up with those kinds of limitations, and she ends up taking on two cases herself, one involving the murder of a prostitute, and the other involving a mass shooting. Her involvement puts not only her career, but her very life on the line.
For those who are unable or unwilling to attend the program in person, a zoom link will be sent to all members of the group. If you are not in the group but want to join virtually, send an email to Nora at nmulligan@wlsmail.org the week of the meeting. However you join us, come and join us for what promises to be a fascinating discussion.
