Field of Mystery Book Group

Join the Field of Mystery Book Group on Saturday, February 6, by zoom from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as we discuss this month's book, Winter Counts, by David Heska Wanbli Weiden.

Virgil Wounded Horse, the protagonist, is a Native American living on the Rosebud Reservation, his unofficial task to be the enforcer of norms on the reservation, dealing out justice to the people who slip through the nets of the American Justice system and the tribal justice system.  When heroin starts finding its way onto the reservation, he finds himself tracking down the source and discovering some uncomfortable things about the nexus of power and money, and about his own Native American identity.
