Field Notes Book Group

Saturday, February 20, 2021 - 11:00am to 12:30pm

The Field Notes Book Group will meet via zoom on Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 11 to 12:30 to discuss this month's selection, Mrs. Dalloway, by Virginia Woolf.

Mrs. Dalloway seems, when you describe it, to be the most trivial book: the main character, Clarissa Dalloway, goes through some errands in preparation for a party she's holding that evening. But this is one case where a description of the plot falls far short of explaining what's extraordinary about the book.  Woolf was one of the pioneers of stream of consciousness writing, and in this novel she reveals the inner thoughts, heart and soul of a seemingly ordinary woman, and in so doing, blew apart concepts of what a novel could be.

Copies of the book will be available at the Circulation Desk at The Field Library. If you are interested in the program but are not a member of the group, contact Nora Mulligan at nmulligan@wlsmail.org to get a link the week of the program.  Join us for what promises to be a stimulating discussion of a great classic.
