Field Notes Book Group

Saturday, April 17, 2021 - 11:00am to 12:30pm

The Field Notes Book Group will be meeting by zoom on Saturday, April 17, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to discuss our April selection, Claire of the Sea Light, by Edwidge Danticat.  Copies of the book will be available at the Circulation Desk.

Claire is a special 7 year old girl, growing up with her father in a small seaside village in Haiti, mourning her mother who died when Claire was born.  Her impoverished father is ready to give her to a local shopkeeper, who can give her a better life, when Claire disappears altogether.  As the town gathers to look for her, secrets and memories start to emerge, creating a portrait of a small, interconnected village and the people who live there.

If you are not a member of the group but are interested in attending the meeting, email Nora Mulligan at the week of the meeting. Join us for what should be an interesting discussion.
