Field Notes Book Group

The Field Notes Book Group will meet IN PERSON downstairs at The Field Library on June 19, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to discuss the June selection, Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland, by Patrick Radden Keefe. Copies of the book will be available at the Circulation Desk.
Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland was the winner of the Book Critics Circle Award for nonfiction, and placed on many "best of the year" lists the year it came out. Ostensibly it's about the murder of a 38-year-old mother in Belfast by the IRA, during what the Irish euphemistically call "the Troubles" in Northern Ireland, but it's really about the causes and effects of the decades of violence on the people who perpetrated it as well as the victims of it.
Coffee and snacks will be provided, and there will be a Zoom link for people who are unable to participate directly. Join us for what promises to be a deep and fascinating discussion of a nonfiction book that, by all accounts, reads like a novel.
